A dark hallway. The lights are out. A tall person approaches. I can't see their face. My heart begins to race. Do I prepare for battle or look for an escape?
I don't think it's testosterone. I do that in the car and on the bicycle too. I don't know why either! But it's cool. I go by miles and not time so if I have someone to keep up with riding then I finish faster.
Women have testosterone also. Some women have higher levels than some men. This American Life had an interesting espisode on this very thing.
Competition is a good thing. If all I cared about was fitness, then perhaps I'd never compete a footrace. Running in a marathon gives me an idea of where I rank in the grand scale of life.
