As all the Sports Racers converge on Chicago this coming March, one question is ever present. "What's Your N.Q.?" Tell the QuackerCon Planning Committee what your N.Q. is in 50 words or less and you could be selected to present at the conference.
Add your text, spreadsheet, presentation, pictures, audio, or video to the "What's Your N.Q.?" project in the ORG. We'll vote between now and October 21st. The top 5 vote getters receive an opportunity to present at QuackerCon 2008 in Chicago, IL!
While travelling to Shaver Lake my friend Katie, the Bun and I had the happy fortune of stumbling upon the Grand Opening of the History Center there. Out in the parking lot there was a full size working steam engine built over 100 years ago. It was used as a winch to pull large logs across the forrest floor.
I love machines where it is obvious by their appearance how they work.
Julie Manworren, the Executive Director of Simpson Housing Services (SHS), sat down with me to describe some of the services her organization provides to people in the twin cities who end up homeless. If you'd like to read more about SHS, go here.
While the GiveMeaning.org portion of the fundraiser for RunningHome is over, I'm still collecting donations via Gimme Some Shelter here. Please provide me with your name and address so that SHS can forward a receipt for your tax records.Â
I've got a new camera. Just like my other hacked camera but it works on my Mac. With the hot days and nights I do more work on my Mac since it's portable.
Today was lovely. I stole away for a half an hour and got in a run.

I decided to try some time lapse instead of a still picture. It's also in color instead of black and white. I suppose my entry doesn't qualify for the Picture/Date/Place project. Still, I had fun making it.Â
That's the ORG Improvisational Mash-Up. It's a simple and fun game to play with some of the applications found on the ORG. Just follow these steps:
Many people have contributed to the Awesome Corpse project on the ORG. I decided to create a video composite of many elements rather than a static 2D image.

Many thanks to transiit for helping my addled brain pick out an appropriate temporary sound track. Thanks also to Manny Trembley of Panda Xpress for drawing the storyboards.

It's very rough. Not totally pleased with it. But then, it's only a rough. You get the idea. Anyone interested in working on the Maushammer project just drop me a comment or send me an email.Â

Thanks to transiit for tipping us all to the knowledge that today is Kevin's birthday. Hope it's a happy one.
The live moblogging didn't go so well. Only three videos posted and one was the wrong one. It was an interesting experiment.
By about mile 19 I was still running at a good speed so I ditched the cell phone and motored on in. I ended up setting a new personal record.
B-roll footage shoot for my documentary resulted in a happy accident. Right at the end of capturing some time lapse of a building, Walter approached me. We started out talking about the Sears warehouse and retail store.
Soon conversation changed to what Walter was doing now. The video cuts out so I don't have the rest of his story on tape. He had a grocery sack tucked under his arm. He told me that he was headed over to a garage to spend the night. The owner told him it was OK for him to crash there.
Walter said he was enrolled in some classes at Urban Ventures. He told me he was trying to get his life back together and to get off the streets. I asked him what I could do to help him. He asked me to pray for him. We both did right then and there in the parking lot of the Midtown Exchange at 9:30 at night.
I have no idea where Walter is today. I am happy to have met him and heard his story.
Only a few days remain before the Eugene Marathon. Go the distance with me and contribute to Running Home.Â
Here is a preliminary test for packing up the Infinite Play Case and its contents.
On this Earth Day, the whole family worked in the yard. The little bun turned over some compost, tilled some soil and sowed grass seed.

This is a mobile video blog test. I am hoping to post periodic, mini-episodes during the Eugene Marathon. Right now my multimedia upload limit is set to 300KB which works out to be a 15 second video 160 x 120 in size.
Maybe it's all more trouble than it's worth. I figure it's worth a try.
On Friday, 13 April, 2007 I got a special package from Lady Leary. It contained the Quack Attack flag from her toboggan race. Soon it will become the prop in the new Sports Racer Project, Infinite Play.
The Bun's longtime friend, Sen, had him over for a special birthday party last week. After opening a gift, some lunch and yummy cake both relaxed with a short yoga session.
This is one of the first instances where the Bun has participated in collaborative rather than parallel play. Big milestone for those not in the know.Â
This footage is from an interview I conducted with Hussein Samatar for my documentary, Building at a Crossroads. Recent events have led to a lot of uninformed statements about Muslims living in Minnesota and about the religion of Islam.
While Mr. Samatar is talking with me in reference to the rehabilitated Lake Street Sears Warehouse building now known as the Midtown Exchange, there are elements of it that are very informative. For example Mr. Samatar explains how Islamic financing works.
